No endless “levels”. One qualification. A clear path. All-inclusive. A fraction of the cost of alternatives.
A Letter to Past You…
We understand how hard it is. You love animals, especially dogs. You have a passion and clarity about how you want to spend your days (helping people and dogs!). You’ve got the dream, the drive and the heart. BUT you see no clear route to achieve that.
You’ve researched endlessly. You’ve hit roadblocks. You’ve discovered the dog training and behaviour education minefield of…
• A glaring lack of regulation
• Outdated or theory-heavy teaching
• Impractical (and potentially not reward-based), conventional techniques
• An emphasis on reading and essays that have nothing to do with the job
…and you’re left feeling like you only have two non-ideal routes (neither of which feels like adequate preparation or aligned to how you want to spend your time):
Option 1: Dive into the muddle of levels, certificates and diplomas in an industry flooded with confusion and misinformation. You soon learn that the majority are unregulated, unrecognised or not fit-for-purpose. You might even learn that ‘accredited’ just means a private organisation gave it a thumbs-up and that Ofqual-regulated is the real deal, actually recognised and trusted worldwide. But by then, you’ve spent time climbing the ladder of levels, and it didn’t quite lead where you’d hoped. You feel like something’s missing, that you don’t quite feel ready for some of these cases, and you’re worried about being qualified if the industry becomes regulated.
Or…
Option 2: Pursue the academic, university route; invest tens of thousands of pounds, giving up your current employment and moving to a new location to become a full-time student. You find yourself buried deep in books and papers for the dream of a hands-on, practical job.
You feel frustrated, despondent and think ‘if only things were different.’
The thing is that every inspiring, life-changing story has two components – the hero has a dream (you’ve got that!) and they follow a pathway to it.
You have the dream, but you were stuck, discouraged about or missing the pathway. Until now.
The you of NOW has both. YOU get to write the story this time. Because now, there’s a clear pathway – The Canine Behaviour College Qualification.

Testimonials
What Our Students Say
What it’s like to learn with The Canine Behaviour College
“It’s basically the glue to pull everything together. I’ve found that missing bit.”
“I’ve taken a number of programmes in professional dog training, and I also have an academic background…but there’s always been something kind of missing on the practical end of things, it’s basically like the glue to pull everything together…I’ve found that glue, I’ve found that missing bit. I’m really excited to take this to my clients. I love helping people out with their dogs and their canine struggles, and now I really feel more confident in being able to support them and help them on their journey forward.”
-Amanda, Current Trainer/Behaviourist
“I’ve already been able to put into practice some of the things I’ve learned…”
“I’ve already been able to put into practice some of the things I’ve learned so far…And my clients were all pleased to hear that I was doing the course, so they were like, ‘Yeah, borrow our dogs anytime you need to.’ So that was a good confidence booster as well. The tutors are lovely. Everyone’s so kind. There’s no judgement. You know, we all want the same goal and I’ve truly found my purpose to help people and help dogs. It’s really lit a fire within me and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
-Bethany, Dog Walker
“My clients are getting better results instantly.”
“I have felt that there have been gaps in my learning from the previous courses I have done and that has sometimes been frustrating and a little bit scary when I’ve encountered something that I don’t have the answer for. This qualification is totally different, and it’s Ofqual regulated. So I know that everything I’m learning is well-researched and that my qualification will be respected. My clients are getting better results instantly. The gaps are being filled in and it’s so applicable and achievable. Everything about this course has meant that my confidence as a dog trainer and behaviourist has grown and my clients are getting better outcomes as a result.”
-Frances, Current Trainer/Behaviourist
“The perfect add-on to my business…”
“I started a dog walking business a year ago, and when this diploma came up it seemed to be the perfect add-on to my business…I can only see this being a real bonus to my dog walking business. It is the correct knowledge, I’ve been assessed to a high standard and really, it doesn’t get any better than that.”
-Jacqui, Dog Walker, Dog Sitter
“It really, really works.”
“I did a few courses when I was qualifying to be a dog trainer and I found that they were quite rigid…there was no integration between parts, no overlap, no real practical strategies…and no real communication…And that’s why I really love how this diploma is structured. I have 4 kids and the dogs, and I work…so my biggest concern was how is this going to fit in with my life?…But actually, the way that they pace those lessons really helps me to plan what I’m going to do and when, and it doesn’t take over…So it really, really works.”
-Gemma, Dog Trainer
“It is extremely accessible. It is super easy to learn.”
“I am a certified professional dog trainer and behaviour specialist…So far it [the course] is mindboggling good…It is extremely accessible. It is super easy to learn. The sessions are nice chunks…and I can fit them into my everyday life and I can absorb the information and use it straight away with my clients, with my own dogs. I feel so much more confident, so much more empowered, and so much more experienced.”
-Kathleen, Current Trainer/Behaviourist
“I’m now faced with excitement with every video…”
“A few years back I was trying to find a way of improving my behaviour knowledge and getting more in depth in it, and I was faced with either the option of going back to uni for a masters, or jumping through loops of one level to another of behavioural studies, which didn’t suit me. Came across the Canine Behaviour College and it’s just been wonderful. The learning so far has been really impressive. It’s very inclusive…I’ve spent so many years to become a vet studying topics I wasn’t particularly interested in, yawning my head off with the likes of biochemistry or pharmacology, and I’m now faced with excitement with every video that I open up for my next lesson. I look forward to it!”
-Jennifer, Vet Surgeon
“It has been truly life-changing…”
“It has been truly life-changing in every single aspect of my life really. I am just a humble dog owner and I must confess, that when I started the course I was struggling with huge impostor syndrome and feeling very anxious…But I can honestly say I’ve been made to feel so incredibly welcome, such part of the team and I feel like I’m in the right place. It’s only been 5 weeks, but I’m seeing incredible changes. I notice that things are improving really quickly that, the minute I implement a suggestion or a technique it’s like I’m speaking their language.”
-Julie, Dog Owner, Aspiring Behaviourist
“In..two months…I have learned more than in my entire level 3 diploma.”
“I’ve just completed a level 3 diploma with another organisation in canine behaviour, a useful foundation but I found the learning very rigid, very essay based, detached from any application…I was getting a bit frustrated by it all…Then I came across Canine Behaviour College…in the two months that I’ve been doing it I have learned more than in my entire level 3 diploma.”
-Mick, Aspiring Behaviourist
“I’ve been blown away by all that we’ve covered.”
“I’m a dog owner and I came to the level 6 diploma in clinical canine behaviour wanting to have the best knowledge and understanding to be able to work with my dogs and to help them to navigate this increasingly difficult world that they’re in. I’ve had rescues for 15 to 20 years, I thought I knew an awful lot and I have taken part in many, many different training course with my dogs…when I heard that this diploma was being released, I felt that I just needed to be involved. Since starting I’ve been blown away by all that we’ve covered. Even within week 1 I had a much better understanding of what was going on, why, and how to help, because there were practical frameworks littered all the way through that I could put into practice right there, right then.”
-Sarah, Dog Owner, Aspiring Behaviourist
“You’ve got hundreds of examples of different dogs and how the science applies to them.”
“The course has been truly transformative and has led me down a path of wanting to work with dogs more and more, and really helping me understand what’s going on in their brains and how to actually apply that to real life. Even if you yourself haven’t been working directly with dogs other than your own dog, you’ve got hundreds of examples of different dogs and how the science applies to them…It’s almost like I’ve gained the knowledge of having a thousand different clients already, without having a single client yet.”
-Sienna, Aspiring Behaviourist
“This is hands down the best decision I’ve ever made.”
“I was at the end of my tether with running my business and doing behaviour work, and feeling I was really struggling with imposter syndrome. This is hands down the best decision I’ve ever made. I feel part of a community, I feel really supported, I don’t feel like there’s any judgements, which I think can easily happen on other courses. I’ve done 5 different courses with several different organisations, and some of the tutors can be hostile…This is totally different. There are analogies that are really easy to understand, so you’re not just completely overwhelmed and blindsided with terminology, which I found did happen on other courses. I’ve already been using a lot of the knowledge that I’ve learned from my behaviour clients and now I feel much more confident.”
-Tanya, Current Trainer/Behaviourist

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is the qualification regulated or recognised internationally?
Yes. This Level 6 Diploma is regulated by Ofqual (The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation), an independent government department in England that reports directly to Parliament. Ofqual regulation means the course meets strict academic and professional standards and is recognised internationally. Employers and organisations worldwide respect and value Ofqual-regulated qualifications.
What is a Level 6 Diploma? What is it equivalent to?
A Level 6 Diploma is a higher education qualification. This particular Diploma is regulated by Ofqual (The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation). And that matters because not all Diplomas are (even if they say they’re accredited)! It is equivalent in level to the final year of a university bachelor’s (undergraduate) degree, meaning the type of knowledge gained, difficulty and complexity are similar. However, we’ve specifically designed the programme to be accessible and approachable to allow a variety of learning backgrounds while also preparing you to a professional standard.
Will this course prepare me to become a dog trainer or canine behaviourist?
This qualification is designed to prepare you for both roles:
- As a dog trainer, you’ll learn how to teach dogs practical skills, address common training challenges, adapt training for different life stages and prevent common behaviour struggles.
- As a clinical canine behaviour practitioner, you’ll learn how to assess and support dogs with a variety of behaviour struggles, such as aggression, anxiety, reactivity and fear-based struggles. You’ll also learn how to work with veterinarians and multi-disciplinary teams.
There’s no need to take a separate course before or after this diploma. The course includes both foundational and advanced knowledge, practical application and case studies to ensure you’re confident and competent in both fields
Are there any entry requirements or prerequisites?
There are no formal prerequisites. Unlike other Level 6 Diplomas, you DO NOT need to have completed a Level 5 (or below) before enrolling. The only requirements are you must:
- Be 18 or over
- Have the ability to speak and write in English
- Be able to learn at the required level (but we make this super accessible!)
- Have occasional access to a dog to use for practical training tasks (which can be your own dog or a dog you’re able to see from time to time)
How long does the course take to complete?
The qualification is designed to take approximately 18 months, with a few hours of video per week. You’ll have up to 2 years to complete it, so you can work at your own pace alongside other work and personal responsibilities. Extensions can be granted on a case-by-case basis.
Can I study while working or managing other commitments?
Yes, the course is designed to be flexible and self-paced, making it ideal for those with other personal or professional commitments. The live sessions are recorded in case you can’t attend them live.
Will I receive a certificate upon completion?
Yes, upon successful completion of all modules and assessments, you will receive a Level 6 Diploma in Clinical Canine Behaviour, regulated by Ofqual. This is yours to keep forever! You’ll also be awarded the letters DipCAB (Canine) that you can use professionally after your name!
Is this similar to other Level 5 and 6 Diplomas out there?
Nope! This Diploma was uniquely designed in collaboration with Behavet, the UK’s largest behaviour clinic, to be practical, accessible and fit-for-purpose, preparing you for the actual job of dog behaviour work. It is based on the strategies and tools proven to work and deliver results that are used in Behavet’s day-to-day practice. The Canine Behaviour College has the exclusive rights to deliver this Diploma, so the qualification and all the learning inside aren’t available anywhere else.
Is this course suitable for beginners?
Yes. While the course is taught at a Level 6 standard (equivalent to final year undergraduate study), it is structured to be accessible to beginners. You’ll be supported by tutors and given structured, step-by-step learning, starting from fundamental concepts through to advanced clinical behaviour techniques.
Will I need to complete practical work or placements?
There are no mandatory placements. But, you will, at times, be required to complete some practical tasks using a dog you have access to. You’ll have the opportunity to share your recordings privately to gain personal feedback from a tutor. You’ll also complete case study assessments, and ongoing support is provided to help guide you through these. There are also online tutorial sessions with expert tutors. All the lessons are designed to be practical and applicable to real-life use and work with dogs.
Can I join from outside the UK?
Definitely! This course is fully online and open to international learners. The course materials are all in English. If you’ve gotten this far, you’re doing great!
What kind of support will I receive?
You’ll receive tutor support through:
- Live teaching sessions with expert tutors
- Access to a dedicated support team for general queries
- Personalised feedback on all submitted assessments
What can I do with this qualification?
Graduates can go on to:
- Private clinical behaviour consultancy

- Work from home
- Transition to part-time or full-time roles in behaviour
